This is another collage from the Vase of Flowers series.  It was inspired by the early floral paintings of Henri Matisse.  I love the Fauvists’ exuberant colors and intricate patterns.  I used Nepalese Lokta paper for the patterns in the wallpaper, vase, and leaves.  It’s this soft, heavy decorative paper that I source locally.  That Lokta paper and the paper in the table are the only contemporary papers that I use in my collages.  Everything else is either vintage (less than 100 years old). or antique (more than 100 years old).
