Like the Meet Cute series, Committee Notes is a playful homage to mid-century modern designs.  I was working on a version of the classic two rainbows, placed on the top and bottom of the canvas.  

But as I was preparing to glue the bottom shapes down, I realized that I liked the looser arrangement that I had accidentally made, so I adhered the pieces just as they lay on the background.  I feel that it adds a sense of movement to an otherwise still abstract piece.

The background was a wonderful find.  It’s the pages of a 1910 Freemason’s meeting ledger, and it uses very rare purple ink.  My goal with this piece is to take the old forms and make them hum with energy.
