Cancelled Check Sunset is another collage that uses 1910 Freemason’s Lodge meeting notes, this time as the green mountains.  I took the meeting notes and 1800s ledgers, painted them with ink, and then cut and pasted them into this sunlit seascape.  

The water is made from 1910 canceled checks from a department store in Wisconsin.  I love the stamped dates on the checks.  When placed together the stamps and letterheads make a beautiful repeating pattern.  It’s my dream: a sea of paper!
